Beginning of the End!

I guess we have officially entered the countdown to the end of the year. If you think about it that is pretty much how many of us approach the month of December. December 1st is "the beginning of the end". I have recently experienced an ending of something in my life. I am proud to say that my wife, Sara , and I are done with graduate school until February! That's right, we will be living the "vida loca" for the next few weeks! Enough about me. I wanted to get back to the blog so that I could reconnect with you the parents. I think it is absolutely vital that the parents know what is going on within Jr.High ministry because in your home is where most of the ministry is occurring anyway!
Speaking of reconnecting, that is the theme of our recent series on Sunday mornings. For the next few weeks we are focusing on reconnecting with Jesus. Simply put the series name is RECONNECT (real original I know). Recently, I have felt that knowing Jesus is so much different than knowing about Jesus. There have been may times in my life and I am sure in yours as well that we have had to reconnect with who Jesus was and is now. I tell you the truth I am amazed that I tend to forget or walk away from such an incredible, exciting and flat out awesome person! I have a strong desire for those in the Jr. High to KNOW Jesus instead of only knowing ABOUT Him. I just thought you all would like to know what was going on.
Since we are talking about things going on...this Friday evening we will have our last Friday Night Alive of the year. This year has been so much fun, but I am excited for what the new year will bring. Just so you know we will be meeting at 7-9pm this Friday 12/7 at the FCCH building. Friday Night Alive is a great event to invite friends to, so pack up the car or SUV with kids and bring them! Although I can not be held responsible for the mess they make in your car on the way here.
As the year comes to a close, I often think about what has taken place over the past year. As I think about it I feel as if there are three names that I would like to tell you about. First is Ginni Burton. This year, Ginni volunteered to organize snacks for Friday Night Alive. Though this may sound like a fairly simple task it has helped me immensely! The snacks this year have been awesome and the kids are loving it! If you happen to think about it tell Ginni thanks for volunteering her time.
The two other names I want to mention are the Shea Family and the Lary Family. Both the Shea's and the Lary's have openned up their homes for our newly started Jr. High Bible study. Both homes have been extremely welcoming and have had a large part of making the Bible study a success. Thank you! If you are reading this please let the Shea's and Lary's know that you appreciate them opening up their homes for the Bible study.
Well if you made it this far in the blog I applaud you. ( I am standing up at my desk and clapping right now, really.) To close this exciting installment, I wanted to share with you a place you and your family need to check out. Some of you may have heard of the Elm Draught House located in Millbury. The Elm Draught House is an old movie theater that plays movies that have been out of a couple of weeks. The cool part is that they sell food right in the theater where you can eat and watch the movie at the same time. Another highlight is that the price is incredible. Tickets are $5 and my wife and I can go for dinner and movie for $22. Not bad! I will admit that they have the BEST popcorn I think I have ever had. Now remember this is an old theater so do not expect stadium seating and lazyboys! The theater has character and is a gem. By the way, I am not getting anything for writing about this I just thought I would hand this off to you just in case you were looking for something different to do with your family around the Christmas break. The address is below if you want to check it out. That's all for now folks!
